Make-up guru transforms her lips into incredible works

Make-up guru transforms her lips into incredible works of art inspired by old masters, mermaids and even a painting by numbers kit

A Canadian make-up artist is sweeping social media with stunning photographs that see her lips transformed into picture-perfect works of art.
Andrea Reed, better known as Girl Grey Beauty to her 128,000 Instagram followers, has been carving out a niche with her striking designs that are based on famous pieces like Katsushika Hokusai's Great Wave Off Kanagawa.
The Victoria-based artist applies makeup to her facial canvas, transforming her own lips into stunning patterns and pictures - and regularly drawing in up to 7,000 likes per photo.

Using a thin black outline and a variety of different-sized brushes, make-up artist Andrea Reed expertly reproduces Katsushika Hokusai's famous painting Great Wave Off Kanagawa on her own lips

Two standout looks from Andrea’s repertoire are candy cane-inspired creations; one comes in a range of pinks, purples and red (left) while another features a dizzying array of rainbow colours (right)

'Lip art is so enjoyable to me because its such a challenge': Another nature-inspired look features a three-dimensional painting of a bee that appears to be hovering just above Andrea’s bottom lip
Using an extensive make-up palette and precise brushes, Andrea is able to paint highly detailed shapes and figures with fine lines on her lips, which are then shaded in with vibrant colors.
But rather than keeping the secrets to herself, she posts helpful beauty tutorials so that her followers can recreate unique looks.
Andrea said: 'Lip art is so enjoyable to me because its such a challenge. To produce something I am happy with, given such a small, difficult canvas is very rewarding.

And my followers seem to love them as well!'

Andrea is clearly not afraid to experiment with whatever tools she has at her disposal, with one look seeing her stick lengths of bright orange string to her lips.
Many photos see her match her lips to her nails, like a black and gold leaf look, and a pair of tartan lips that saw her talons sporting an exact match.

And in another nature-inspired look, she has created a pair of glittering, scaled mermaid-like lips.
But Andrea is not the only one spearheading the bizarre lip art trend.
Recently, Instagram has been flooded with stunning snaps of playful rainbow lips stamped with realistic pictures, jewels and creative images - each of the make up pros earning praise for their alternative and often wacky designs.

One photographer, Jill, recently shared a snap of her mesmerising 'dripping saturated sunrise' creation, where she used orange, pink, purple and blue make up to create a glittering sunrise look and added gloss to create a shimmering 'drip'.
Self-taught make up artist GrinandDagger also jumped on board the trend with a stunning Disney Princess creation.

'I picked Pocahontas so that I could paint with all the colours of the wind!' She wrote next to her Pocahontas look, which she created using liquid lipstick and paint.
One of the most impressive looks was by Sydney-based make up artist Miss Jazmin, who based her lip art on nails her friend made.

Playful themes also included 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' where an artist stuck cupcakes and swirls over her pastel blue lipstick and 'Salmon Nigiri' where make up artist Vlada Haggerty transformed her lips into a piece of sushi.
