Mob beats alleged shoplifters to pulp in Port Harcourt [PHOTO]

Two suspected notorious criminals were, on Friday, almost lynched to death by angry mobs in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital, after they robbed a woman who runs a boutique.

According to reports, the suspects, at about 11 am, were said to have robbed the woman, a boutique owner in the Trans-Amidic area of the city, around a shop close to Mothercat bus stop.

In their attempt to make their escape on their motorcycle, the woman raised the alarm which attracted members of the public who chased and caught them.

It was alleged that but for intervention of mobile policemen in uniform, the duo would have been been killed.

Meanwhile, one man among the crowd reportedly identified one of the thieves (the one sitting on the ground) as a notorious criminal who operates around Rumuokoro axis.

On interrogation, they said they were poor and jobless.

Meanwhile, the policemen were said to have taken the robbers away with them.
